Today 22 March 2015, I am creating this online place named happiness.
During my journey in trains I often sight small children, not too feeble to beg, wandering here and there. They will beg one person and keep on begging till he regretfully considers to give him a penny or shouts over him in a rude appearance. Well a penny doesn’t cost you anything neither it is a life saviour for the child. But after taking that penny the child runs away.
One day while I was returning back to my home from Kolkata railway station I have break my journey in Asansol. There my next train was about an hour late. So I got an Ice-cream for myself. As I started to have my Ice cream, 3-4 boys came running to me and they were about to snatch my Ice cream away. But fortunately I was near to the shop where I bought it and the shopkeeper shouted at them and they ran away.
for few seconds, when the boys were trying to snatch the ice cream from me, I thought to give up my Ice cream for them. But then a thought came to my mind…
They were habitual to it. They have made it a habit.
I may not seem to be a big problem but if you think properly it is a matter of concern. Today a lot of children are in this field. Some feed themselves as they are helpless. A little stronger ones are into the habit of eating tobacco, puria, etc.
Although this problem is not confined to just children. Adults, physically disabled and trans-gender are also into it.
some of them have started self-employment. They would take up a jharoo and start cleaning the railway compartments.
The problem is that why can’t they do something productive. Or why don’t our government start any scheme so that the can work and lead a respectable life. Thousands if not less, children are in this field. They are simply ruining their life. I know that child labour is a punishable offence but still thousands of child chooses it as an option. So either you(our govt.) employee them and take work from them and at the cost of it give them education and food.
This will do two things. One is that you don’t have to nurture them(beggars) as a burden. The other thing is that they will learn to work. Getting into the habit of working will make them a responsible citizen of our country.
So in order to make our country a really good country and prosperous nation then apart from signing nuclear pacts, high speed railways, you should also focus on employing them.
Otherwise the situation is not going to change. Again in the next election you will have to include various subsidy and ghar baithe pet bharo scheme in you agenda. Please try to make the population productive a independent so that everyone lead a respectable life. So that one need not have to spread their hand before others.
If you really care for the public then offer services to helpless and old people. Every thing will automatically come up. First we need to have equality among us. Human should be treated as human so that there is no discrimination on the basis of work they do.
By equality I mean to say social equality as economic equality is not really feasible.
